September Favourites

Hi all how's it going?
I can't believe we are almost half way through October. Here's last month favourites of September. I have been trying out new cafes and watching the return of Narcos season 3 ( I haven't watched it, in awhile).

TV & Film:
Narcos season three has launch and it’s completely different to the previous seasons as they are focusing on another family. I’m half way the season and believe it will be better.
I recently watched Lady Gaga Netflix documentary, it was a real eye opener, honest and raw. I love lady gaga  because she was my first concert I ever attended and her super bowl performance was amazing!
I have also been reading Capture Your Style ( I wrote a post about it here) a lot. I picked up the recent cosmopolitan magazine with the social media influencers and learnt some helpful tips. I haven't read magazines in a long time.

Food &  Drink:
I have recently been going to Lot one kitchen in Hillary's recently and it’s delicious. I have had the lamb burger with slice zucchini, chili (of some sort) and the best part was the hummus on the bottom bun! Delicious! Check out a picture of it on my Instagram .
I have also discovered a new cafĂ© called Paper Avenue in Joondalup, which is awesome as it’s not far away from me. I love finding new local places its really fun!
Fashion & Beauty:
I have fallen in love with my recent bomber jacket purchase I got it on sale from General Pants. I attend a university ball, I bought my dress in advance a month before and  I had make up done at Mecca cosmetics and she put on a dark lipstick and fell in love with it!

Music:
I love listening to these tracks recently:
1.       Little Mix- Reggaeton ft CNCO.
2.       Jason Derulo-If I’m Lucky
3.       Avicci- Without you
4.       The chainsmokers-Young
5.       Pink-Beautiful Trauma
6.       Pink-What about us

5 Lessons Learnt From Capture Your Style

Hi, how’s it going?
This year one of my goal's was to improve my photography for my blog and Instagram (hopefully). When I heard that Aimee Song (who videos I have watch a few times) had a book about Instagram and photography I decided buy it. I have learnt five helpful lessons from reading this book:

1.       Helpful, practical and easy advice:
I was surprised by how helpful, the advice she wrote on every chapter was. I found the advice practical  and easy to follow. I love how detailed and beautiful the pictures are in the book.

2.       Encouragement to be different and not follow the clichĂ©:
One of my favourite pieces of advice I took away from her book was to try and avoid the Instagram clichĂ©. In the book she writes about how we have all taken a one or many clichĂ© pictures you see on Instagram, which is okay to do but we should think outside the box.

3.       Write a mission statement:
On page 41 in her book she  says to write a mission statement and what you aim to do with for your Instagram account. I have been confused throughout the year what to I aim to do so I immediately wrote my mission statement and has helped me think clearer and work for my goal for my account.

4.       Social media growth takes time:
On chapter 4 on her book she discuss social media growth and sticking to your mission statement. It shouldn't always be about growing and gaining followers but also engaging with others on Instagram. I myself have been trying to engage with bloggers by  leaving comments and asking advice in which they have responded.

It  has been refreshing to see that it shouldn’t be about how many followers you can get but the important of engagement as well. If you work for it, the followers will come.

5.       She writes the book like she talking to you as friend:
One of my favourite things about the  style of writing in this book is she writes it in a way like she is talking to as a friend rather than demanding what you should do with your Instagram  and photography (if that makes sense).

I’m looking forward to using her book to inspire myself in getting creative with taking photos and using them for my blog and Instagram. I would recommend getting this book for bloggers and everyone else.

What books have you been reading?

My Personal View on Beauty

Hi all, how's it going?

I'm 22 and have learnt about a lot everything- body, diet, fashion and beauty. I wasn't into beauty as a teenager and I didn't start wearing make-up until I was 16-17. As I got older I became more interested in trying out beauty products and looks.

First make up product:
My first make up product was a Lauren Anne face powder I bought from a women's expo. I remember how I put it on using the big face brush.

First time having professional make up done:
The first time I got my make up done I believe was my 12 year ball. I remember asking the make up artist what were good beauty products to use and she said "whatever works for you".

That is the best piece of advice I think of when looking at beauty.

First lipstick:
My mum has always worn lipstick, I wear lipstick which I prefer over lip gloss. My first lipstick was a skin tone Revlon lipstick. I still have it along with a small collection of lipstick I have made over the last couple of years. The collection  includes Mac, Maybelline, Napoleon Perdis,  Revlon.

My go-to make up looks:
After ups and downs of using make up I have found my go-to looks for day and night:

Night out:
Nars tinted moisturer, primer, concealer, mascara, highlighter, a red or a bold colour lip with lip liner.

Day look:
No make-up, just sunscreen with sometimes concealer or mascara.

I was once having a bad skin day, putting my make up to go out and my skin was just not having it. I didn't like how my skin was looking and decided to take it all off. I honestly felt better and instead I put on concealer, mascara and lipstick.

My personal view on beauty is finding what works for you, giving it go and if you enjoy it go for it!

What's you personal view on beauty?

The Places I Have Been & Want To Go

Hi, how's it going?

I love to travel, two years ago I went Europe for the first time on a Contiki tour and had previously  traveled to Bali, America, Bali (again). I didn't want to leave Europe, as our tour ended in Paris (beautiful city) but I was eagered to come back. I'm sharing the places I have been and want to go.

First time travel:
The first time I travelled out of the country was when I was sixteen to Bali with my friend and it was fun but I got heatstroke on the first day and dealt with it through the week. Lesson learn: Wear sunscreen all the time.

Second time around:
After my first overseas trip I went to America for my sisters netball tournament in Orlando, Florida. We went to all the theme parks in Universal and Disney ( childhood dream come true), we stayed on to head to Washington D.C and New York for another two weeks. It was amazing!

Europe...
One of my dreams when I was a little girl  was to go to Italy! I hadn't planned on going to Europe  so soon at 20 years old but I did when my twin sister said "Come to Europe with me" and there I was on plane heading to London to start our tour!

My dream came true when we arrived in Italy. I loved the food and the gelato! Bloody amazing ice cream! We ended our tour in Paris which was beautiful but sad to say good-bye to our European whirl (our tour name).

After returning I wanted to go back badly and travel more. It's a definite must for the future here is  a list of places I want to go to:

Europe-Everywhere again if possible!
Coastal Europe- Greece, Croatia, Spain,
America- California, New Orleans, Florida & New York!
Canada
Asia
Africa
Mexico
New Zealand- Extreme sports here we come!

I feel the list is going to get longer!

Where have you been or want to go to?

Mid-Year Goal Review 2017

Hi all, how's it going?

This year I decided to set goals for the first time (you can read the post here). I lack motivation a lot so I thought it will be a good idea for myself to set them.

This year has gone by fast we are now in August (what?). Here is how I have been doing (pssh it's a long one)

Create a consistency routine with blog posts.
Let's just say I haven't done well with the consistency aspect of my first blogging goal but I believe I have done well to keep up. I understand why I haven't been keeping up, due to my lack of motivation but I have decided to aim for one blog  post a week at least so I don't put pressure on myself like I used to.

Write blog posts of what I know aka finding my niche:
Finding my blogging niche has been a good  experience for me because I have been comparing which blog posts has had more views and has me thinking about what I type of blog posts I should so more of. But I still want to try out new things though.
Improve my photography.
My photography skills has massively improved. I have been working on flat lays over the last couple of months with a couple of them have gotten a few likes on my Instagram which is a good achievement. I have research tips and tricks thanks to google and YouTube videos. I'm aiming to do shoot some fashion posts :)

Get a job:
Lets just say nothing happening on that front.

Re-decorate my room

I have added photo frames to my bedroom and would like to make a photo board of some sort because I think they are really cool and my sister has one in her room.

Maintain and continue doing my hobbies:

My hobbies are a variety including: baking, cooking, exercising, watching movies, reading, listening to music. The list can go one, but on the positive I have been reading more books over the last month which I have found relaxing. The local library has become a regular place for me now.

How are your goals going?

My Personal Style Journey

Hi all, how's it going?

I'm like every girl, I enjoy clothes and fashion but I didn't care as much when I was in school. The first thing I was into as a teenager was rock and roll/tomboy style clothes- I wanted black jeans, rocker tees, leather jackets. You name it.

My style has changed as I have become comfortable in trying new things whether its a different colour, dress or more figuring fitting clothes. I realized over time, that you should dress for you and be comfortable.

My go-to causal outfits change throughout the year, depending on the weather:

Summer/Spring:
  • Lounge shorts and old shirt at home.
  • Low/high waisted denim shorts and top.
  • Casual dress with sneakers
Winter/Autumn:
  • Three quarter denim pants with any top- short sleeve
  • Cardigan with jeans-boyfriend, high waisted or denim.
  • Long sleeve crop top.
  • Overalls.
I enjoy trying new style, more colour and prints but in the end if I'm comfortable I wont wear it.

What is your personal style?

Finding Good Sales

Hi, how’s it going?
We all love a good bargain. Finding what we want or need without  having to pay a lot of money is a good feeling. There are always sales going on throughout the year.

I have always seem to find  bargains on clothes I want that are reduce or that I thought weren't on sale but were. The clothes I buy are not always what I go for but when I try it on I fall in love with it.

I supposedly get lucky sometimes while I'm out shopping to find clothes that I like at a good price, which isn't often.

I  below have come up with ways or tips I have used to find good bargains:

Head to the local Boutiques:
Yes! Local clothing boutiques may have sales you don’t know about because the big retail stores are easier to go to. These boutiques will have a variety of different brands, style and colour you may haven't seen before. You will  also be supporting the local community!

In between sales:
Visit your favourite shops in between the seasonal sales, I have bought my favourite clothes in between sales. I have lost count of how many times I found clothes down from $100 to $60 then $40.

Bargain!!
Sales racks
I believe a good buy is in the sales racks, not only are for the low prices but with the variety of clothes that have been put onto one rack. The racks will give you a chance to find clothes you may have wanted to buy but couldn't due to any reason-sold out, didn't have enough money etc.

Anyway if you see it, want it, try and buy!

What are your tips for finding good sales?

What I have been loving recently..

Hi, how' it going?
I have been sick over the recent month with a sinus infection. I have been getting back into a normal routine slowly but it's still hard to recover from being sick. So moving on, I thought I will share the few things I have been loving recently!
Netflix:
I have become more excited and invested in Netflix. It’s the only TV I watch actually beside the news. The shows I'm watching are Girl boss, Riverdale, Narcos, Audrie and Darcy. I just  remembered as I write this post  I need to catch on Peaky blinders season 2 and 3 before season 4 comes. I'm getting excited!
Books:
I have been reading more  recently because I have been wanting to get back into it. The books I have read are by female authors- Nora Roberts, Jojo Moyes etc. I have always read books by female authors then male authors. I’m eagered to read more books of those authors.

Magazine:
I recently purchase a Marie Claire magazine which I haven't done in a long time. I used to read Total girl magazines when I was eight to thirteen. I bought because I had seen Beauty and the Beast movie twice and wanted to read the Emma Watson article.
New Handbag:
I recently purchase a new handbag! It was my mission to find one over the last few months. I wanted a bag with a strap with two handles so I can carry or put it on my shoulder. The bag has a medium space that will fit in all my space including a notebook and pen!
Plant base meals:
I have been experimenting with cooking plant base meals as of recently. I have been using Deliciously Ella cookbook which I actually gave to my older sister for Christmas. I have so far made the warm winter bowls and spice sweet potato stew! I'm looking forward to making more of her recipes, sweet potato brownies anyone?

Essential Baking Cookbook Review

Hi, how's it going?

If your lover of baking like myself, every time I go into a bookstore I go straight to the cooking and baking section. Their have been so many cookbooks that have been published this year and the numbers are growing.

I was given the Essential Baking book as a birthday gift and have been using it ever since. The book is a everything to know about baking (just like the title essential) with recipes that have a variety of sweet and savoury.

Every chapter is divided into different baking treats- cakes, muffins, breads, pastries etc.  The chapter gives a detail description about each treat, how to cook, modifying recipes etc.

The book is filled with clear and well written method with beautiful pictures that are give myself inspiration material (wink wink).

I have made a few recipes from this book including- apple and cinnamon muffins, banana bread, afghans, blueberry muffins. I believe it's a good book to buy because with 200 recipes and easy method to follow it a bible for all bakers or first time bakers.

Do you have any good baking cookbooks?

Friday Food File: Finding New Eating Places

Hi, all how's it going?

Have you ever become bored of going to the same places to eat and drink for a catch up with family or friends? Not because the food or service isn't great but you want a change of scenery, explore a different area of your city or try something new food or drink wise.

Here are some ways to find new eating then I have ideas of where you can find new eating places:

Instagram Accounts:
Now days, cafes and restaurants are creating Instagram accounts to promote their business and get customers into their places.  I follow Breakfast in Perth and the Breakfast Confidential accounts because I love and enjoy going out for breakfast around Perth.

These are other cafĂ© accounts I follow that are worth checking out:
Tropico
Little h
Dejaxo

Ask around:
Word of mouth is powerful and useful. I ask family and friends a lot about  new places to go out to eat, it never what type of cuisine no matter. When I'm talking to others for example at the gym if were having a conversation about the restaurants or cafes I quickly write down or research the places they talk about.

Explore:
Exploring and walking around a new area in your city, is a great way to find new places as well. I enjoy exploring the Leederville, Subiaco and Victoria Park area recently. I found cafes driving by that I'm looking forward to visiting.

It's cool to see what inner suburbs have to offer, it's nice to go to a place somewhere that's not busy.

How to do you find new eating places?

My Autumn/Winter Clothes Picks

Hi, how's it going?
Whenever the city I live makes up its mind about the weather, I can’t wait! Living in Perth the situation with the weather is one day a sunny day, the next a cloudy rainy day.
Anyway with the end of summer and spring comes winter and autumn. It's not my favourite weather but its means warmer clothes and recently I have bought new items and  which was excellent to wear for this weather.

Here are my clothes picks

pssh: there is a lot of black, I do wear other colours.

High Waisted Jeans:
Last year I bought my first high waisted jeans and fell in love. I bought another pair recently that I had missed out on last year because they were sold out. I’m happy I bought the jeans before they sold out again.

Boots:

Yes, boots have become one of my favourite pair of shoes over the last two years for the cold season. I have always tend go for sneakers or sandals. After pulling out a pair of boots I bought years back I started wearing it with jeans and I enjoy the extra height even though I’m 5’9.
Bexar Buckle Boot
Leather Jacket:
I have wanted a leather jacket for years now but never found one that I like. This year it’s my mission to get a leather jacket. I think they give a edge and works with everything.  I have looked at different shops and seen the different style real or not real leather material. A lovely girl on my contiki tour had the leather jacket I wanted. I knew straight away it was from Topshop.

Long Sleeve Bodysuit:
I'm going to be honest, I didn't like bodysuits in the beginning. I didn't get the point, until I told myself to try it on in a shop one day and- now I like them more. The fact their is a variety in colours and sleeve length is good, because you can wear one for all occasions. Even if you prefer a crop long sleeve top it's awesome!

How To Take Good Polaroid Pics

Hi, how's it going?

I truly love polaroid pictures, over the last year I have been learning how to take good photos. I think polaroid are rare thing because if you lose it, it's gone for good. Here are the tips I have learnt:

Angle:
When taking a photo angle the camera within  arms length, try your best to keep it straight, slightly high. When its at this angle you can take a selfie or a group photo with two if your lucky three people.

Set the scene:
When its come to the setting on the camera, I have learnt one good tip.

Get away from the light!

I have taken pictures with the light nearby and the photo has turn out with a bright spot on the film. Turning your back or moving away from any light helps. If you want a picture in the sun try not to be near the sun.

Take it everywhere:
In the beginning when I had a polaroid camera I wouldn't take it anywhere, but now I take it on holidays and days out with family to capture moments with everyone.

I always have lots of fun taking polaroid pictures, on new years eve especially last year because I took heaps.

There something special and rare about them, once you take it, there's only one and if you lose it it's gone.

What are you tips for taking polaroid pics?

Friday Food File: Easy Tips To Start Baking

Hi, how's it going?

As I spoke in my previous post about starting to cook, baking is definitely the same in the  daunting situation. There is still the a different variety you can bake- cakes, cookies, slices, pies etc but a lot sweeter and spice.

Here I have come with another post of easy tips this time baking!

Measure out ingredients:
The first thing you should do is measure out every ingredient  on the ingredient list before baking. This will make baking easier so your not doing everything at once.

Example: if a recipe says eggs lightly beaten- crack the egg into separate bowl and whisked. It's quite simple.

Read the recipe carefully:
When I'm finding a new baking recipe or reading through my baking book I read the recipe carefully. It's good to read  to check if you don't have a certain item or type of method you haven't done.

Form a routine:
When you have the ingredients ready to go, read the recipe get into forming your own baking routine. Make the routine simple:

Preheat oven, measure ingredients, bake and place in the oven, clean dishes, make icing etc.

Don't overthink:
When it comes to decorating, you don't need to overthink it needs to be perfect have fun!

What are your baking tips?

Friday Food File: Easy Tips To Start Cooking

Hi, how it's going?

Starting or learning to cook can be daunting but it doesn't have to be. I thought I would share some tips on how to get into cooking:

Start small:
Find a meal that is simple and easy to make, with small amount of ingredients. They could be:
  • Scramble eggs
  • Toasted sandwiches
  • Homemade pizzas.
These meals are not only simple but they have a variety of skills you learn straight away. The scramble eggs for example, involve cracking eggs, whisking, measuring and stirring. See? When you make a easy meal you learn new skills straight away!

    Get a partner:
Cooking with someone  that you know can cook is ideal whilst starting out is fun and helpful! Getting together with someone like a friend, sibling or parents ( for me it's my mum) would make it fun and create memories along the way.

    Cookbook flatlay

    Find a recipe:
When it comes to researching and finding one recipe to cook, firstly ask yourself  this question: "What you would like to cook?

The sky is the limit now with finding recipes. There are many options in finding a single recipe either online or printed. Here a quick list of where you can find recipes:
    • Cookbooks
    • Food websites and blogs
    • YouTube videos
    • Family and friends recipes.
    • Social Media: Instagram, Pinterest, Facebook, Twitter

    Have Fun:
The most important thing to remember when learning to start cooking is to have fun! If you burn food, forget to add a ingredient or it doesn't taste good its not the end of the world because its all part of learning! Don't pressure or be hard on yourself- which I have done a few times . It's ok to do it all over again!
